Our Creekside Skye and first Border Collie. Skye started us on our journey to a friendship with Lynn and Joan Mason of Mission Falls Ranch and the origins of our breeding program. Skye was brilliant, silly, a superior cow dog, great breeder and produced wonderful litters by MFR studs Badger and MacDuff. Rhett and Cinch go back to one of Skyes breeding to Badger and one of those pups was bred to MacDuff who produced the litter these two dogs came from. Cinch is out of a full sister to Rhett. Great line breeding with excellent out crosses is how a breeder can produce consistency and keep high bred vigor. Now we bring in bloodlines like our BCW Texas to move us forward as we blend a strong US foundation with top international lines. We are confident that our litters in the coming years will continue to do us proud and have our clients very well pleased. That is the goal of every breeder in the pedigrees of our dogs. To continue to protect the origins and integrity of the many breeders of the border country between Scotland and England in producing a breed called Border Collie.

Why We Chose the Border Collie
Sometimes the Right Breed Finds You
People often ask why, after decades of working with and breeding other remarkable animals, we chose to dedicate ourselves entirely to Border Collies.
The answer is simple.
We didn't set out looking for a Border Collie. We simply fell in love with everything they represent.
By the time Border Collies entered our lives, we had already spent decades studying animal behavior, breeding, genetics, and the extraordinary relationships that develop between animals and people. We thought we understood what made exceptional animals.
Then we met the Border Collie.
Skye with her first litter at 7 weeks old.
This was the beginning of something special in 2022—and her impact continues to shape our program through the generations.
More Than Intelligence
Border Collies are often described as the most intelligent breed in the world.
While that's certainly true, intelligence alone isn't what captured our hearts.
It was the way they think. The way they quietly observe before acting. The way they solve problems. The way they anticipate. The way they willingly partner with their person.
Unlike many breeds, Border Collies don't simply wait for instruction.
They engage. They analyze. They adapt. They become true teammates.
That remarkable partnership is unlike anything we've experienced in another breed.
Lessons From a Lifetime with Animals
Long before we began breeding Border Collies, horses had already taught us lessons that would shape everything we do today.
For more than four decades, Suzy bred Egyptian Arabian horses while studying herd dynamics, maternal behavior, communication, trust, and the remarkable intelligence animals possess when we take the time to observe rather than simply direct.
Those years reinforced something that would later become central to our Border Collie program: Animals thrive when they feel safe.
They learn best when they're confident. Partnership is built through trust—not fear.
When Border Collies entered our lives, those same principles suddenly made even more sense.
A Breed Built on Partnership
The Border Collie wasn't developed to simply follow commands.
For generations, these dogs worked alongside shepherds, often spending long, quiet days together on the hillsides between Scotland and England.
The shepherd trusted the dog to think independently, solve problems, and make decisions when livestock moved beyond sight.
The dog trusted the shepherd's guidance. Neither succeeded without the other.
That relationship shaped the Border Collie into the breed we know today—a dog whose greatest desire is not simply to work, but to work with its person.
We believe that partnership remains the defining characteristic of the breed.
The More We Learned, the More We Believed
Once we began studying Border Collies in depth, our fascination only grew.
We immersed ourselves in pedigrees, genetics, health, nutrition, puppy development, reward-based learning, and the history of the breed.
We sought out respected breeders, working dog handlers, trainers, and educators.
Every conversation, every litter, and every dog reinforced the same conclusion: The Border Collie is one of the most extraordinary breeds ever developed.
That realization changed the direction of our breeding program forever.
Why We Chose to Focus Entirely on Border Collies
Over the years we've had the privilege of raising many wonderful breeds.
Each taught us something valuable. Each helped shape the breeder we are today.
But once Border Collies became part of our lives, we knew we had found the breed we wanted to devote ourselves to preserving.
Today, every aspect of Gold Creek Ranch Border Collies reflects that commitment.
Our breeding decisions. Our Puppy Development Program. Our educational resources. Our philosophy.
Everything begins with one goal: To preserve the intelligence, soundness, temperament, working ability, and extraordinary partnership that define the Border Collie.
